Grand Canyon | Lake Powel | Colorado River

The Grand Canyon is grand and beautiful, mighty and insane. This state park is an all-time favorite for many tourists, photographers and travelers and even for someone who is not familiar with the variety of US national parks, they have heard of the Grand Canyon. It’s a must for anyone who is exploring the west side of the country and is perfect as a road trip stop as well.

What does this park have to offer to its visitors?

The Grand Canyon amazes visitors with its size because it is one of the deepest and longest canyons in the world.

While we were in the area we decided to see the South Rim (the most popular) part of the canyon. According to statistics the south section receives about 90% of visitors. From there you can go on a hike that takes you to the very edge of the canyon, or you can take a trail that will lead you to the bottom. All of the trails are accessible all year round, which is pretty convenient for travelers. The south section is also accessible by car or by the park’s bus that lets you run out to the observation decks. Although this could be convenient for some people, we thought that this was a bit too boring.

We continued to explore the Grand Canyon the following day and all of it’s most interesting spots that lay to Desert View. This path is a comfy drive with lots of parking along the way.

It’s probably also worth mentioning that we did not plan to see the Glen Canyon on this trip. We had to spend the night somewhere near a town called Paige because that is where we ended up after visiting the Navajo Bridge and the Horseshoe Bend. Glen Canyon has a lot of options for lodging because, in addition to glamping spots and hotels, boat homes and yachts are also an option.

We reached the iconic Horseshoe Bend (part of the Glen Canyon) and it was surreal! We wanted to see this spot and we finally saw it. The reality and the beauty exceeded our expectations. Crazy to think that nature is capable of creating like the Horseshoe Bend.
