*1Almost all my couples want to get photos as soon as possible or right after the shoot. But I have to go through a special procedure before I sent the photos to the couple, and it takes time. Selecting the all good shots, color correction, retouching. All these things take time. Selecting photos takes anywhere from a 1 day to 3. This depends on the amount of photos taken during the shoot. After all, we don’t want to miss an important moment, so we have to choose carefully and look at all images taken. After your photos are ready I load them to Google Drive and on to my website. All of the editing takes about a week. But editing photos is just a part of my job, since I have many other shoots happening during the week, I can only fit a certain amount of work hours a day. During the work week I have other photoshoots, reply to e-mails, meet up with couples, talk to them on the phone and much more. Marketing and management are also key components of my job that take time. I also have two sons and want to spent time with them and see them grow.
In order for me to sent a few photos, I have to look through all of them. This is up to 2-3 hours at minimum + retouching. During that day I can not look over any other photos from a different shoot. This way my timeline of the work day gets moved by 2-3 hours and throws my whole schedule off and all couples who were before you in the “line” will get their photos later, which is unfair.
This is why I have an option for couples who want their images during the week.
I give the images over to a third party who edit them. This speeds up everything else. The color correction and selection is no different from my own.
The process from editing until the end result that you get takes about a week. 3 days to choose the photos from the day, 2 days for color correction and 2 days for retouching. There are many other things that we do other than photograph weddings, engagements. We meet with couples, do e-mail, do a lot of marketing and meet with couples. I also have a family and two children who I like to spend time with. There are other couples, who’s wedding was before yours and they are in line before you. It’s all simple and chronological. Depending on the season this process takes 8-14 weeks. This is the time needed to do the job right and deliver the images. End of August, September and October are the busiest months in our industry, and if we photographed you during those months your photos will take a bit longer to be edited.
About 70% of our couples (and other photographer’s couples as well) ask to get their photos a week after the wedding.Let’s look at this closer:
“Share a few photos from our day”. At this time I am editing photos from another couple’s day. I have to stop what I am doing and select photos from the other couple’s celebration. After picking for 2 days I edit and e-mail the couple a few photos. This means that I am behind schedule and every other couple will get their photos late now. It's a domino effect.
I think it’s unfair that some couples get more of my attention and time than others. I want all my couples to be treated with the same attention and a friendly approach. I want all my couples to be happy.
This is why I offer the expedited option for the couples who don’t want to wait and want their photos right away (in a week). We have been working in this industry for a long time and work with a team of editors who are professional and who’s services we request when couples want expedited photos. Post production and their editing are just like mine because we have been working together for a long time and have created some awesome things.
My name is Danila Mednikov and I am a New York City and destination photographer based in Brooklyn, NY. I always find it tricky to pinpoint my style but most describe it as editorial, yet at the same time, simple and natural. I am forever grateful for my brides who always look perfect and I capture them that way, the same goes for the grooms. I like when the couples are relaxed and happy when they feel like they are children again, fooling around, kissing, and hugging without a care in the world. The photos come alive and those moments are saved by me for you forever.
And my name is Lana Mednikova and I am a full-time photographer and most importantly a full-time wife and mom! I’ve been married to my husband for almost 10 years now. My photography style is documentary. What drew me most to photography is the desire to express the beauty I see in others. The smallest things in life can display the deepest emotions, feelings, and memories. I hope my photos inspire and remind you that it is good in this world and that love is real.
We opened our studio in New York City in 2009 and since then have been capturing every moment in a candid way and creatively document those laughs, tears, and kisses for you to treasure. For engagement photoshoots that we like to call ‘portrait sessions’, we have a pretty relaxed approach and we won’t make you pose in those cheesy awkward staged shots - it’s about the two of you and your happiness will shine naturally.
We have been honored to be named by New York Wedding Magazine 2016 in their "10 US Wedding Photographers That Are Doing Things Differently" list!
In 2017, 2018 and 2019 our work has been published on the JuneBug Weddings, Style Me Pretty, Green Wedding Shoes, Wedding Chicks, Rock n’ Roll BRIDE, and many other popular wedding blogs. One of our weddings has even been printed in “theKnot” magazine (paper edition!). We have also made it to ‘TheKnot’s’ Best Weddings Hall of Fame and have been named “Best of Weddings” by theKnot in 2016-2020. WeddingWire has given us their “Couples Choice Award” for multiple years in a row as well.
At the end of the day, the job of the wedding photographer is to capture a single moment and make it last a lifetime. The wedding shoot, from beginning to end, may last only a couple of hours, but the memories those amazing photos evoke will truly last a lifetime.
If you are 20 years old, 60 years old, or somewhere in between, your wedding day is the largest and most important day in your life. The wedding photographer’s job is to capture this magic and preserve it for eternity. I take this responsibility very seriously and consider myself an integral part of the ceremonies that I cover.
If you live in Manhattan, Brooklyn, or even further, it’s important to choose a wedding photographer in New York that will make you feel comfortable. In the end, you will spend a lot of time with a wedding photographer, from planning a wedding shoot to sorting out these amazing shots.
Whether you are planning a simple elopement in NYC or an over-the-top wedding at a Manhattan country club, the wedding photographer you hire is there to tell a story. That story is the love of you and your soon-to-be spouse, from the engagement and the selection of the wedding rings to the ceremony itself and the amazing shots that commemorate it. Hiring a great wedding photographer in Brooklyn is not always easy, but once you understand that you are telling a story, the process should make a little more sense. Marriage photography is a different kind of art form and not one that every photography aficionado is able to pull off. Whether they are a wedding photographer in Manhattan or in New York, the best pros understand both the solemnity and the fun of the moment, and they aim to capture both in their finished wedding shoots.
We have photographed weddings all over Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Long Island, Staten Island, Westchester, East Hampton, Montauk, Shelter Island, Fire Island City, in Hoboken, Jersey City, Lake George, Huntington, Tarrytown, Glen Cove, Hudson, Cornell and in Northern and Southern Jersey.
We love traveling and love it, even more, when we get to visit our couples and capture destination weddings. We have captured weddings all over the country with California being our favorite location after New York City. And we have also photographed weddings in Mexico, Greece, Bermuda, Bahamas, Canada, Ukraine and are excited to add more countries to this list next year. We will travel to you and bring our gear with us and nothing can stop us.

We are constantly being creative, getting inspired, and sharing our craft with other vendors in the industry. Our travels, New York City, our couples, our family, and our friends inspire us to create even when there aren’t enough hours in the day. We organize inspiration photoshoots that feature unique models, real couples, interesting locations, and wedding gowns. The looks are always different and we connect makeup artists, gown designers, and florists together in order to create something special. These photoshoots help us grow and inspire future couples to step outside of the box with their wedding day looks, decor, and themes.
